Hi! I need some help figuring out what to do with my ugly sweater.
I worked over the summer for a charity organization, and we got custom screen printed crewneck sweatshirts at the end of the summer. They're great and all, I'm so happy to have a memento, but our assistant director chose bright baby pink sweatshirts with sparkling antique gold lettering against the warnings of the rep from the company we ordered from, and plot twost- they're ugly . The screenprint design isn't bad, I like the sparkles, and I'd like to wear this sweater without cringing, so I'm thinking about dying it.
I've never dyed before, so I'm looking for advice before I get started. It's a 50/50 polyester/cotton blend. I read that multi-purpose dyes like rit will change the color of the screen printing, does anyone know if you can use fiber reactive dyes on a poly/cotton blend? And does anyone have color suggestions to dye over baby pink that'll still look decent with dark gold? I'm thinking oxblood/maroon but I'm not sure how well it'll cover the pink.
I appreciate any help!
Tldr; the pink and gold polyester/cotton crewneck I got from work is ugly, what kind/color of dye could I use to salvage it?
Here's an image of the colors together-
