This was a 4 part series showing all steps of the restoration, I'm only posting the last video here.
I have two antique/vintage axes/hatchets which I found at the local antique shop and picked up for $25 for the pair. They looked good quality, but both with a lot of work needed to get them back in action. This will be a 4 part series with a tie back into one of my previous videos. Fourth step is to sharpen these hatchets and test them out by the shaving test, the nail test and the on wood test.
The wood tested is Ash, and is fairly dry, so this is a real-world test, not pine or cedar which is soft and very easy to work.
The goal was to produce 2 quality hatchets which are very functional. They have hand split/made handles, leather sheaths, and a they are CRAZY sharp.
I'm looking forward to putting these to the test in the next projects I work on.
Hope you enjoy!
